POST GRADUATE HIGHER DIPLOMA – EXPLORING THE SUBLIME AS AN ICONIC IMAGE

Concerned with trying to create an ‘Iconic Image’ about human evolution and progress. Hence the upward pointing arrow, enclosing the ‘Monolith of Light’. I think I had at the back of my mind images from 2001 A Space Odyssey, around the staged ascent of mankind to higher levels of cognition. I am mindful however that progress has come with negative consequences, hence the opposition of darkness and light in this painting. I guess in todays world, the big ‘Hope’ is that Politicians pressurised by their electorate, can be wise enough to do what needs to be done to halt / reverse climate change, and save Mother Earth.
